About us

Hi! There are two of us, and we really love to walk.

GZAGO didn't come from a business plan. It came from our trips: notes on our phones, debates about which way to turn, and the eternal “wait, what's that building?”

01

It all started with notes

Before every trip we put together our own little list. What to see, where to grab a coffee, which story to tell each other in front of yet another cathedral. At first it was a couple of lines on a phone, then whole documents with maps, links and notes like “sunset only”.

One day we caught ourselves at it: one of us was reading aloud while the other followed the map. And we thought: that's an audio guide. Just a living one.

Tomorrow's list
  • The lighthouse, but only at sunset
  • Bakery by the market, before 9
  • Why is that balcony crooked?
  • The courtyard behind the cathedral
  • Sit down and just look

You get to know a city on foot

You can see a city from a bus or flip through it in a guidebook. But it only really opens up when you walk. You peek into courtyards, catch the smell of the bakery on the corner, get lost and find your way again.

And if, right then, someone next to you explains why this street bends and who lived behind that window, an ordinary walk turns into a small adventure. We're convinced there's no better way to get to know a city.

03

The guide we were missing

We tried a whole bunch of audio guides. Some read out an encyclopedia in a tired voice, some wanted a subscription, others went quiet wherever the internet dropped. And in some cities we simply fell in love with, there was no good guide at all.

So we decided to make our own. Warm, like a friend telling you a story. The story starts by itself when you reach the place, and your phone stays in your pocket.

04

Only where we've been

Only cities we've walked ourselves make it into GZAGO. We choose the places, plan the routes and check where the best view is and where it's easiest to cross the street. And we start with cities where we couldn't find a good ready-made guide.

That’s why cities arrive one at a time, not by the hundred. But every route was our own walk first, and only then became yours.

See you on a walk!

If you've read this far, you probably love walking too. Write to us: where should we go next? Tell us about your favorite city, or just say hi. We read every message.

And if you have a cozy place of your own, a museum, a guesthouse or a travel blog and feel like making something together, write to us too. We're always happy to make new friends on the road.

Hugs, the two of us
