In short
  • No account, no sign-up, no email needed.
  • No analytics, no ads, no tracking.
  • Your location is used only on your iPhone and never leaves it.
  • Purchases are handled by Apple. We never see your payment details.

Who we are

GZAGO is an audio guide app for iPhone and the website gzago.app. Both are developed and operated by Konstantin Pikatov, an individual developer (“we”, “us”). You can reach us at [email protected].

This policy explains what happens with your data when you use the GZAGO app and this website. The short version: we built GZAGO so that it does not need your personal data.

Data we collect

We do not collect personal data. GZAGO has no accounts, no sign-up and no servers of our own that receive information about you. The app does not contain analytics, advertising or tracking tools, and it does not use the advertising identifier (IDFA). We do not sell or share data, because we do not have any.

Location

To start a story when you reach a place, the app asks for access to your location. Location is processed only on your iPhone: the app compares your position with the places on the route you are walking. Your location is not sent to us or to anyone else and is not stored after the walk.

The app asks for permission when you start your first walk, not before. You can change or revoke it at any time in Settings › Privacy & Security › Location Services › GZAGO. Without location access you can still listen to every unlocked story manually.

Data on your device

The app keeps a few things locally on your iPhone: downloaded stories, which stories you have listened to, your walk progress and your settings (for example the guide language and preferred maps app). This data stays on your device and is deleted when you delete the app.

Notifications that a story is nearby are local notifications created by the app on your iPhone. We do not use a push notification service.

Purchases

Cities are sold as one-time in-app purchases through the App Store. Payments are processed entirely by Apple. We do not receive your name, email, card number or other payment details. The app checks which cities you own directly with Apple on your device (StoreKit). Apple’s handling of your data is described in the Apple Privacy Policy.

Apple and other services

Story audio is downloaded from Apple’s servers as part of the App Store. When you open a route, it opens in Google Maps or Apple Maps. These services work under their own privacy policies: Apple and Google. GZAGO does not pass them any data about you; they receive only what is needed to show the route you chose.

This website

gzago.app is a static website. It does not use cookies, analytics or tracking. It is hosted on Cloudflare, which processes technical data such as IP addresses to deliver the site and protect it from attacks, as described in the Cloudflare Privacy Policy. We do not use this data to identify you.

If you email us

If you write to us, we receive your email address and your message. We use them only to reply and to improve GZAGO, we do not add you to any mailing list, and we delete the correspondence when you ask us to.

Children

GZAGO is suitable for all ages and does not collect personal data from anyone, including children.

Your rights

Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR in the EU or the Law of Georgia on Personal Data Protection), you have the right to ask what data we hold about you, to correct it or to have it deleted. Since the app collects no personal data, in practice this concerns only emails you have sent us. Write to [email protected] and we will answer within 30 days.

Changes to this policy

If the way GZAGO handles data changes, we will update this page and the date above before the change takes effect. Significant changes will also be mentioned in the app’s release notes.
